Hang in there, being a parent is a tough and long journey, the reward might take a long time to come but the efforts we put in as a parent are all worth it!  The little things that we did will have a long term impact on their lives. 

 

Here is part of the birthday letter from my daughter when she was in college (shared with permission from her)…

            

“Being away from home has really opened my eyes to many things and I just want to take this time to thank you for being such an important factor of my life.   

I was so nervous when I had to move away from my safe bubble of home. However, each and everyday, I’ve encountered situations in which I’m reminded of the values that you and daddy instilled in me and opportunities for me to put the life skills you taught me into practice. Even thinking back to those Chinese school days when every Saturday afternoon and evening our house would be filled with crying, screaming, yelling and just pure frustration! However, you were patient with me, I’m so thankful that now I know how to speak Cantonese and I’ve gained a deep appreciation for knowing the language … 

I will forever be grateful for your patience and love during our struggles and your persistence of just trying to be the best mom. Your prayers with Daddy have been a source of strength, especially during tough times and moments when my faith has been tested. Thank you for everything!”
